Meet Daryl Rocco of Soul Sankalpa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daryl Rocco.

Hi Daryl, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I was raised in the San Diego suburb of Carlsbad. I don’t know if we had to move every year when I was a kid or if my parents were just house-flippers. But being the new kid at school every single year was difficult.

When I was 15, my dad had a fatal accident, which really shook my sense of security and stability. He was my rock and encouraged my love of nature and connection to the outdoors. We went camping in the Sierra Nevadas a few times a year and often went hiking.  In nature is where I felt most comfortable.

At a young age, I was in a relationship that I didn’t know how to get out of.  No emotional intelligence, no skill-set to speak of.  There were red flags, but I didn’t know how to say “no” or set boundaries. I got married and was in an abusive relationship when I was 19. I got out of that by the time I was 25, but I quickly fell into drinking to feel better and avoid my feelings. Hit rock bottom pretty quickly, and by age 27, I had gotten sober – with the help of the community and a 12-step program.

By the time I stopped drinking, I already had a son and was about to get married again. I think I was still looking for safety and security or a feeling of belonging. I wanted to believe this was forever, but being so isolated and sad within a relationship was not what I was hoping for in a marriage.

Between 2003 and 2005, five people in my family died. My marriage was falling apart, my kids were still young, and I wasn’t feeling the sense of security I was looking for. I felt pretty hopeless. I had a group of loving friends who helped me get through this rough time, and one of them took me to my first yoga class in October of 2005, a few days after my mom died. I felt completely at home, accepted, and at peace; something I had been looking for my whole life.

There is a saying in the yoga community, “If you want to change your life, all you have to do is take yoga teacher training.” In 2005, I took my first training. At that time I also moved out with my kids and started working in the corporate world for the first time in almost ten years. I felt so out of my element.

Not long after, love found me when I wasn’t looking for it, and since 2009, I’ve been in a loving, supportive, compatible partnership.

Quickly though, I was able to connect the world of business with the world of yoga, creating a wellness program at Panasonic Avionics in Orange County, and taught to my co-workers for 5 years! I had renewed hope for my life’s path. Easy, but not simple.

I was able to learn more about the Vedic sciences as time went on. I took certification courses in Vedic astrology in 2016, and since then I’ve been working hard to share what I’ve learned with other people.

Vedic astrology is the key to understanding how karma works in the universe and how it plays out in our own human lives. This is a direct reflection of our cosmic microcosm to the macrocosm in the world. Our karmas ripen very specifically to our own specific timelines. In 2018, I opened my practice called Soul Sankalpa. Sankalpa is Sanskrit for “intention.”

The three Sister Sciences in the Vedic world are Yoga, Vedic Astrology (the Science of Light), and Ayurveda (the Science of Life). In 2018 I completed my certification as an Ayurvedic Practitioner further integrating my passions for yoga and Vedic Astrology.

Backing up a bit, when I was young, I could see, hear, and feel things I couldn’t explain. This was so scary and there wasn’t a safe place I could turn to with this information.  I think that was another reason why I started drinking. I’ve finally come to terms with the fact that I’m psychic, clairvoyant, and a medium, and I’ve worked with a few very seasoned teachers to understand how to use these gifts.   Denying this facet of myself manifested as an underlying ‘denial of myself’ which I believe to be harmful to my own spirit and psyche. As part of my own healing (I previously experienced autoimmune issues), I believe that I could best support myself by accepting all of myself – including this mystical part. I said that 2022 would be my “Year of Coming Out” from the woo-wooey psychic closet – so here I am.  Offering support to my clients in all the ways I’ve been gifted in order for them to learn about their own true, authentic selves.

Also in 2022, I became a Beyond Quantum Healing Practitioner – new, but practicing this fascinating tool! BQH is a method for exploring past and future lives in all realms that are based on intention and the heart and use hypnosis and deep relaxation. My clients are shown how to connect with their Higher Selves, their subconscious, and all the other worlds that can help them.

At this point in my life, I have a lot of tools I can use to help each of my clients and students connect to their own divinity and remember what they have forgotten. I love this saying, because I would love to grow along these lines:  Kindness is more important than wisdom, and the recognition of this is the beginning of wisdom. –Theodore Isaac Rubin

We’ve been impressed with Soul Sankalpa, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Sankalpa means intention in Sanskrit. I understand we incarnate at very specific times to allow the cosmos to unfold along our energetic blueprints.

Since I started my path in 2003, I’ve gathered these certifications along with wisdom and practice:

Vedic Astrologer, (certified to teach)
Ayurvedic Practitioner,
RYT 500 (yoga instructor) Anusara 200 and Prana Vinyasa 300 (Shiva Rea)
Reiki Usui Lineage Levels 1 and 2
BQH (Beyond Quantum Healing) Practitioner.

What sets me apart is my psychic, medium intuition. I use my gifts to aid people in coming back to themselves.

What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Trust the universe will provide all that I need. Love heals everything. And that grief isn’t something you get over, but something you live with. I’ve heard it said that we grieve as much as we love.

I’ve learned to let go of my ‘story of losses’ so I can be in receptive mode for all the love I am surrounded by and graced with.
